Self-operated Barrier for Flood and Spill Protection (Vertical Rising)

Another innovation for the automatic protection of an area from flooding or from preventing a liquid from escaping from a controlled area. The barrier is operated by the action of buoyancy only, requiring no human intervention and no power. In this innovation the barrier is vertically rising. Buoyancy action is provided by a buoyant body disposed in front of the opening protected. The barrier is formed by a roll-up shutter disposed at the rear side of the opening. The shutter consists of rigid horizontal elements hinged on the rear side of the opening thereby the liquid pressure seals the gap between the horizontal elements and the hinges hold the shutter upright.
